Several weeks ago we started Emmalyn on rice cereal. She really wasn't too sure about it at first but then got the hang of it after a couple days. She didn't seem to like the rice all that much so we thought we would try the oatmeal. She definitely took to it much better than the rice! Yesterday we went to go pick up a high chair. Today we tried it out along with some banana oatmeal. Boy o boy did she like it!!! She not only sat up like a big girl but also opened her mouth with excitement after each bite! We think she knew there was something better to eat and today she got it!

"Life's a garden... dig it!"
I have been asking Nathan since we bought our house if I could have a garden. He didn't think it was a great idea until I convinced him of all the money we would save on produce! He was all for it when he knew we could save money!! ha! In just a month or so I will be starting to give Emmalyn baby food which I intend full well on making myself. Now I am even more excited that by the time summer is here I can make her baby food out of my own home grown food! Yeah!!! I am so super excited to have my very own gardens! I am so grateful for my wonderful husband who made me not 1 but 3 raised garden beds today! All we have left to do is mix the soils and plant! Emmalyn had fun watching Daddy dig up the ground. We kept her occupied with a whole fruit mango popsicle! She loves being outside! We will keep our urban gardens posted as I grow my crops! Hopefully there will be enough to share with all you special people in our lives! ;)

Emmalyn's 4 month check up
Today was Emmalyn's 4 month doctor/vaccine visit. She did very well. She was smiling and talking to her doctor a lot! He told us there is obviously no concerns for her socially (hahaha)! She got her 2nd round of shots... she did well with the "drink virus" but the 4 shots in the thigh were a little less than welcomed! :( Daddy stood by her side but she still let out a big red faced cry! It's so hard to watch that. She is 12 lbs. 13 oz. and 24 1/2" long. Her head circumference was 16 1/4". Our pediatrician usually hasn't given us percitiles before but we asked this time. Her weight is in the 25%, her height is in the 47% and her head is in the 44%. She fell asleep on the car ride home and zonked out again in her crib a few hours later. Between our walk this morning and all her shots we figure she is probably down for the count!!!

bright sunshiny day!
What a beautiful day today!!! It's about time! Emmalyn and I took advantage of it and went for a walk on the bike path by our house and around Cinci Lake! The lake was still frozen but the weather was perfect. I actually got a little toasty in my sweatshirt! I am so happy to see the sunshine and be able to introduce new surroundings to Em. She really enjoyed our walk. She was awake for the entire hour we were out and just as we approached the house she started to doze off! She was occupied by all the new things to look at, her teether, and of course "buggy" who came along for the ride! We are hoping this new weather pattern is here to stay!

1 year ago today...
March 7 marks the anniversary of the day I found out I was pregnant with Emmalyn! This very day a year ago Nathan and I both had to work. I came home that afternoon and went tanning and got a shamrock shake from McDonalds (I had been craving one for about a month at the time). And finally stopped by CVS for what I thought was another pointless purchase of a pregnancy test. Boy was I surprised when I got home and took probably the 15th test in 7 months and it came out positive!!! I will never forget all the details of that day! It was the best day of our lives!
Today we wanted to honor the anniversary so we woke up and opened the blinds to a sunny day! Sam liked it too. We decided to venture out and take Emmalyn through her first car wash. She really enjoyed it and all the soap colors! Then we headed to Lowes to look for lumber for my new garden. Next stop, Nathan checked out a local car lot for a new truck. We took a little scenic drive then before heading home we swung through McDonalds drive thru for some shamrock shakes! They were yummy! Heather, go get you one!! We returned home and went for a walk. It got cut a little short because of the brisk wind. It was such a nice day to be together and enjoy some much needed sunshine! Tonight, we grill a bbq chicken pizza! Yum!

Bumbo chair time!
Yeah! Em is finally getting the strength to stay up in her bumbo chair! She is grabbing for things all the time and in these pictures you will see her best friend "buggy." It is constantly by her side, up by her face or in her mouth 90% of the time! She's getting so big! It's so hard to believe how many new changes happen in just a few days!
