wild child

Now that Emmalyn is on the move she is discovering so many things! Last week we had to drop her crib (sad for me but necessary.) She was starting to pull on her crib bumper trying to climb out! We decided we better do it now before it's too late! She is instantly energetic when she wakes in the morning... kicking her mattress, her crib and crawling to play with her monster that sleeps in her bed. She also discovered something new to play with the other day. Her cords to her monitor and her sound machine! She woke us up yesterday morning trying to do a mountain climb up her crib by holding on to a cord!!! This child needs supervision now constantly! She is also starting to pull up to her knees by grabbing a hold of things too! Look out world... here comes crazy Em!

Hurray!

Mulli slept through the night for the first time last night! With a lot of patience and praying it finally happened! She's got potty training down as well! Not bad for having her for just 2 weeks!!

One week stronger!

Well, we survived the first week with Mulli! She has come out of her shell and has gotten use to everyone. That being said... she chews, barks, whines, and gets into things she shouldn't 95% of the time! Her puppiness has come out! I have to say she is actually harder than Emmalyn was at 7 weeks old! She is getting up about every 2 to 3 hours crying to go use the potty. She is making a little progress though... She is crying less after we put her back in her cage. The first couple of days she would cry for a half an hour or more because she didn't want back in her bed! This is very hard and frustrating when you have an infant in the house who is trying to get a good nights sleep. Mulli had not woken Emmalyn up once until last night. She whined pretty much every hour on the hour and then at 5am woke poor Em up! Needless to say we are exhausted. As I have told a few of you... NEVER get a puppy while you have an infant in the house!!On a lighter note... She is truly a sweet puppy and is extremely cute!! (It's the only thing keeping her alive at this point!) hahaha! I told mom I should have never prayed for patience all those years because God is making me learn in a way that I am sure he is getting a chuckle out of!!!

On The Move

Emmalyn is finally getting the hang of crawling! She was visiting her cousin Laynie last Sunday and saw that she could squirm and pull to get where she wants. Emmalyn has been rolling to get from place to place for awhile but for the past few days she has been getting closer to an actual crawl! Here is our little mover going after one of her favorite toys...slowly!

Another little lady!

Here is the newest member of the Sharp family! Her name is Mulligan but we are calling her "Mulli." She is a Bernese Mountain Dog. We went to pick her up today in Millersburg Ohio, about 2 hours from Lancaster. When we first got to see her Emmalyn could hardly contain herself! She had only been shown the sign for "dog" a couple times and picked it up right away! Either that or coincidence. She was giggling and smacking her leg for Mulligan to "come." I could barely keep her on my lap! Mulli was just as excited to see her. We were glad to see that she had been raised around cats and didn't seem to mind them much. She cried for about three minutes into the car ride and didn't make a peep the rest of the way... or a mess!Emmalyn was entertained by a few peeks Mulli made over the seat! When we arrived home we started to pick up on her personality a little. She is definitely very shy (so far) and doesn't seem to mind Sam (our cat) at all. However, Sam was not too impressed with Mullie! She did give her a swat and Mulli ran away crying :( I think all will be just fine in the Sharp household in a week or so once everyone gets adjusted to the change. She is so beautiful we can't wait for you all to meet her one day!

Cozy

Emmalyn has been sick for a couple of days so she was trying to catch up on her sleep... This is how I found her this morning when I had to wake her up from her nap to go to the sitters. She was out cold with her little butt in the air and tucked up tight! I could barely stand to wake her! Aaah the simple things that make you smile!

8 month old!

We are a few days late due to the 4th of July festivities...Emmalyn was 8 months old this past Saturday! Each month gets better and better! She is still sleeping about 9 hours at night, waking up around 6:30 in the morning and going to bed around 9 at night. Doing good with a morning nap (most days) but afternoon naps are few and far between. Once our girl is up she is up for good! She is so active and alert, she hates to miss anything. She is always smiling and laughing! Even when she is fussing she is half laughing! She is rolling very well now, she is pulling herself around on her belly to face different directions, she is getting up on her hands and knees to crawl but won't go forward! She does go backwards though. She knows what "no" means. Shakes her head no when you say "no,no,no!" She waves hi and bye. She is actually petting Sam (our cat) these days instead of pulling her hair! She gets very excited around dogs, (I think one of her own may be coming soon!) She still loves Mickey Mouse (her morning cartoon) and the map on Dora (her evening cartoon.) She dances when music comes on by bopping up and down! She is such a perfect joy in our lives! The days are so much better because she is a part of it and some days I wish time could just stand still! 8 months has come so fast!

Buttons

Emmalyn has a new obsession with buttons! If something has a button she will find it and put it in her mouth! It all started with these couch pillows. She has been pulling on them so much to get them in her mouth that they are about ready to pop off! She's just so cute when her eye catches them that I have to let her play. I have a feeling I am going to be doing some sewing in the near future!!!
