Emmalyn's first swim!

Nate, Emmalyn and I spent Memorial Day weekend down at Pa and T's house! We had two beautiful days in the sun! We swam and played on "king kong" and as usual had great food! Emmalyn enjoyed pool time very much and even tried to go to sleep in her raft several times! Big cousin Soph showed her how swimming was done and everyone had a great time! She can't wait to go back and play again! Thanks Pa and T for having us!

That's Nate #4
We took along plenty of toys
Nate waiting on his turn to bat

Well, another year of softball has started! Yesterday was Nate's first game at Miller Park. Although the fire fighters lost, it was still a good time! Emmalyn and I played on a blanket (trying to beat the heat) and watched Daddy play catcher. What a beautiful day we all had!

Daddy time

Having fun...
Doing some relaxing......
getting bored..........

"see ya Daddy!"

Tonight Emmalyn and Nate had some bonding time watching basketball. I believe Emmalyn got bored very quickly because she was soon trying to roll off the couch and away from Daddy!

Emmalyn's first music lesson

Emmalyn has loved music since day one and I have to admit we encourage it. Certain songs we play catch her attention and music on cartoons do as well. I am trying to think of new was to entertain/stimulate her so this morning we tried our own music! It didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. Emmalyn decided to eat the spoon instead of banging the pan with it! It was still a fun time all the same!

backyard work

Here is what Nate and I have been doing for the past few weeks. May 15 has finally past (last frost) and we were able to start our planting process for the garden on Friday! We are sooo excited to see our crop grow! I have planted my herbs (basil, oregano, parsley, mint, cilantro, thyme, rosemary, and chives.) I am very excited to start making my own pasta sauces! So far only one garden has been planted (3 kinds of tomatos, 4 kinds of peppers, and cucumbers.) The 2nd box has been started with one plant of swiss chard. We had to put up a rabbit guard fence to keep Mr. Peter Cottontail out! We are having so much fun with this we highly recommend all of you with even just a little space to try it for yourselves! We have also planted our first tree, a bradford pear that will produce beautiful white flowers next spring and some much need shade for our backyard! The clematis is blooming and my rose bush has 10 buds! Spring is finally here!!!

6 month check up

Today was Emmalyn's 6 month check up. She also got her shots today too! I had to go alone today and I was not looking forward to holding her down while she got those horrible shots!!! She did o.k. until the doctor came in. We had a new doctor today because I wasn't too thrilled with our original. This man was slightly older and very friendly but Emmalyn did not like him at all! She cried at the sight of him! In his defense she was a little tired. She weighed in at 14.8 lbs. (in the tiny 15 percentile), measured a long 27 inches (the 85 percentile), and head circumference of 17 inches (65 percentile.) Both the nurse and doctors first comments were "my goodness she is long!" I never really noticed but apparently she is! We all know she didn't get it from me! I guess that's just one more thing to add the the "Nathan list" This child is all her Daddy! After some major crocodile tears she settled down and fell asleep in the car on the way home sucking her thumb. (that she does get from me!) All in all not a bad trip, especially knowing we don't have any more shots for six more months! YEAH!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mom's Day to all you moms and especially my own mom!!! I hope you have a great day and you all get to spend it together! I also hope you don't have to do laundry, clean, cook, or even make a bed!! Emmalyn surprised me with my first Mother's day gift this morning...just after she tried to eat it! Hahaha! What a great sight to see for my first Mother's Day; my husband holding my beautiful baby girl (with crazy bed head) holding a blue Tiffany's box!

2 years AND 6 months!!!!!

Today is not only our 2 year anniversary it is also Emmalyns 6 month birthday! The past two years have been a whirlwind for Nathan and I to say the least! A wedding, an apartment, a house, a remodel job (still in progress) and finally a baby! It has been challenging but above all a blessing! Time sure does fly by! Emmalyn is growing so fast and changing right before our eyes. We weighed her at 14.6 lbs and 25 inches long. She goes to her six month check up next week. She is rolling everywhere, sucking her thumb, eating vegetables and a few fruits, kissing, hugging, laughing hysterically, standing up in her bouncy, and drinking out of our glasses with ease! She is so funny and is just so happy all the time (except nap time.) Still no teeth yet, but continues to drool through about 5 or 6 bibs a day. She had a little rash problem under her neck a few weeks ago that lingered for over a month. We took her to see the doctor and they figured it was a skin yeast infection. They gave us an anti fungal prescription that ended up burning her skin! Her rash didn't go away until we stopped all cereal and baby foods. We have slowly been reintroducing veggies and fruits and went back to plain rice cereal instead of oatmeal. So far her rash is still clear! We think maybe it was a reaction to the whole grain oatmeal. She is still sleeping through the night. Sleeping from about 8ish pm to 6ish am. Still doesn't care for baby Einstein too much but loves books and anything on PBS sprout. She constantly has everything in her mouth including her feet. She keeps getting more fun with each new day. Work is still hard for me when I have to be away from her but she seems to do just fine without me! It's hard to believe that six months have already past and two years for Nate and I! We have had an abundance of blessings for the past two years and hope that there are many more in the future!
